Emma is Kat’s beloved 14-year-old cat and her constant companion while working from home. This morning, Emma suddenly became very ill, throwing up multiple times. Kat rushed her to the vet for an emergency visit, where the initial tests suggested a possible case of inflammatory bowel disease. After an expensive ultrasound, the results were inconclusive, and the vet now fears Emma may have a serious intestinal cancer. The next step is an endoscopy and biopsy to find out what’s really going on, and if it is cancer, Emma will need treatment as soon as possible.

Kat has had Emma for around nine years, and their bond is incredibly strong. Emma is more than just a pet—she’s Kat’s best friend and daily source of comfort and joy. Kat has always gone above and beyond to make sure Emma is healthy and happy, even using and maxing out credit cards to cover previous health issues. Despite feeling overwhelmed by the mounting costs and uncertainty, Kat is determined to do everything possible to help Emma recover.
