This is not easy for me to ask. For more than two decades, I’ve built a career in post-production. I’m a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild (IATSE Local 700) and have worked as both an Assistant Editor and Editor on film and television projects. I’ve also tried to give back to the community by mentoring aspiring assistant editors, organizing free workshops, and supporting diversity in post-production. Right now, however, I’m facing a housing crisis. My landlord has filed an eviction case involving my rent-controlled apartment. An earlier case with no merit was dropped, but it was immediately refiled, forcing me to spend weeks preparing a legal defense. During that time, I wasn’t able to focus on finding consistent work, and I’ve now fallen behind on rent and essential bills. I have a court hearing scheduled for March 19, and I’m hoping to raise support by March 18 so I can cover overdue rent and basic expenses while I fight to keep my home. Losing my apartment would also mean losing stability for my two dogs and my cat, who depend on me. Despite this difficult moment, I’m continuing to apply for work, take on projects where I can, and expand my skills so I can rebuild stability. If you’re able to contribute, even a small amount, it would give me the breathing room I need to navigate this legal situation and keep my home. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would mean just as much. Thank you for reading and for any support you can offer. — Kat
