Help Kat & Jeff Rebuild
Hi, my name is Tania Salazar. Kathleen McCarthy is my work sister and dear friend. We work closely together as the only Mental Health Therapists in a large Title I school district in Sacramento. Her mission in life is to help others understand trauma and care for those who have been impacted by it.
I am reaching out because Kathleen and her husband Jeff now need our help in the wake of a major traumatic event of their own. Kat & Jeff tragically lost their home in Grizzly Flats last week due to the still-burning Caldor Fire in El Dorado County. Since 2007 when they got married, Kat & Jeff had been working hard to create their dream home in the mountains. They loved their home and their small but tight community.
Kathleen is one of the most caring, giving, & thoughtful people I know. On the heels of their evacuation, all Kat could think about was helping her neighbors get out safely, & offer shelter at her mom's house. The next day, Kat was hit hard with Covid and is now in hospital with serious complications, but fighting hard. Please send your prayers and positive energy her way!
They will need help to rebuild their home & replace a lifetime of belongings once she recovers. They have insurance but there will be much that insurance won't be able to cover, and construction costs are extremely high right now. Any amount is appreciated. Thank you in advance on their behalf!
