Help Kat get back to Washington, D.C.

Donation protected
Update 1/21/2022: It's my birthday and I'm circulating this fundraiser again in hopes I can find more support securing a place to live. I initially raised just over $2000, the bulk of which was spent on transportation from Tulsa to Washington, DC.

Over the last three months I have (1) slept out of my car, (2) stayed on the couches of a few generous friends, and (3) used credit to stay at several temporary locations, but never had enough cash to put down a deposit or secure a room. I'm hoping to raise another $2000 so that I can get a room as soon as possible. I have been looking for work and expect to start another contract job in the next week, but the transient nature of my current living situation has made it difficult to focus and take care of myself.

Any amount you can donate would help - I am dedicated to finding a safe place to live with my dog, anything contributed will go towards rent and staples (food, gas, dog food).  Thank you for your time.

Oh, Hello!

I'm the chalk artist Kat and I'm fundraising in order to afford a U-haul so that I can move back to Washington, D.C. and continue my work on the ground there. You may know me from the "Daria Jesus" chalk art mural at The Midlands on Georgia Avenue, my fast mouth, and corky sense of humor. "That attorney."

After living 6 years in the District during which I experienced several incidents of domestic abuse and violence, I made the abrupt decision to return to Tulsa to be near family - only to learn that my "family" does not want me here.

I am desperate to get back to D.C., the town I call "home," where I intend to find a small room to rent and pick up an industry job while I process this trauma with the proper resources.

For the last four years I was working as a contract attorney at a large law firm - applying my William & Mary law degree for a modest hourly rate, with no vacation benefits, and no employer sponsored health care coverage. (I paid for private insurance out of pocket). The experience has drained me - mentally, emotionally, and financially.

I have reached my personal debt limit and am saddled with student loan debt - this fundraiser is specifically to raise funds for the road trip back to D.C. where I intend to continue using mind - and CHALK ART - to advocate on behalf of workers rights.

I have set the fundraiser to $4200 (I like the number) - and I hope to at least raise $3,000 - approximately $1500 to cover the Uhaul and gas expenses for the trip back (I can make the drive in two days and would like to leave soon!), with the remainder to be applied towards a deposit and rent on a room once I get back.

I appreciate anything you can contribute, as I would like to move ASAP but am currently unable to afford the U-Haul - and I miss you all. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions.
