Hello everyone, my name is Jillian, and I am fundraising to support my partner Clayton (Khal) and his daughter Jaymee following the sudden loss of his daughter, Kassidy Suraya Marriott-Crawford.
There is currently a GoFundMe established to cover Kassidy’s funeral expenses and to support her mother’s side of the family. Khal is extremely grateful for the outpouring of love and generosity shown there. Seeing so many people come together has been a powerful reminder of how loved Kassidy was and how many lives she touched. We completely understand if you’ve already contributed and truly appreciate support in any form.
This campaign is specifically to help Khal and Jaymee navigate their grief and healing. The funds will provide Khal with the time he needs away from work and offer support to Jaymee during this difficult time.
Kassidy and Khal shared a deeply special bond, not only through their shared birthday (Kassidy was born on Khal’s 20th birthday) but also through their mutual love of music, creativity and community.
Khal introduced Kassidy to her favorite musician, Tyler the Creator, and they attended multiple concerts of his together. A proud Dad moment he always says.
Khal believes she got her creatity from him but he says it was her who inspired and challenged him to be better, as he was in awe of her art and creative expression.
Being raised in Beechville, they both developed a deep connection with the community and its roots in Nova Scotia Black History. They both attended Summer Camps and Learning programs, as well as volunteered in the community especially on Beechville Days.
Despite the distance and different households (with Kassidy spending several years out west) they always strived to maintain a close and loving relationship.
Kassidy, Jaymee, and their sister Aurora also grew up together, sharing countless memories and a strong family bond, nurtured by their grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and what seems to be an endless supply of cousins.
This fundraiser is one small way to help carry forward the love, care, and community that Kassidy both came from and gave so freely. Any support offered will help provide Khal and Jaymee with stability and space as they navigate this loss and honor Kassidy’s memory in their own way.
We are deeply grateful for every donation, share, and kind thought, and thank you for taking the time to read, reflect, and support this family during such a difficult moment.
