Kassidy* is a Siberian Husky Alaskan Malamute American Staffordshire Terrier American Bulldog Bichon Frise mix** puppy who is loved very very much. About a year ago, her very pregnant mother was in a kill shelter where she was one of the next dogs in line. They would have euthanized her and all of her puppies if it weren’t for the kindness of Burlington County Animal Alliance in NJ (http://www.bcaaofnj.org/), who rescued her and all of the puppies. 9 months ago, my brother Evan adopted 3-month-old Kassidy -- the last puppy left in her litter -- and she instantly became one of the most special and loved members in our family.

While Evan was out earlier this week, Kassidy got into mischief and got a hold of a bottle of ibuprofen, a substance that as you may likely know is very toxic to dogs. He rushed her to the Vet ER where she has been for a couple of days now. Kassidy consumed well over a potentially lethal amount, but the vet has done and is continuing to do everything they can to remove the toxins, keep her on intravenous fluids, and restore her kidney levels to a safe range. Although last night her kidney levels seemed to be on track, this morning we learned that they have gone out of whack again, and the vet is not comfortable with letting her go back home yet -- at least not for another 24-48 hours, minimum.
We are creating this GoFundMe not only for Kassidy whom we all love so much, but also for Evan, who is definitely not in the current financial situation for any of these expenses. He has already had to put down $1,500 as a down payment for the already accumulated $2,500 of expenses. To put things into perspective, it costs around $500 for each full day/night of care. At this point, Evan can only take things one day at a time.
We need your help to pay for Kassidy’s care and save her kidneys, so she can live the happy life that she deserves and Evan has already worked so hard to give her up until now. Kassidy will be eternally grateful for everyone who is able to help financially with her recovery. We will be able to update everyone day by day, and hopefully in the near future when she is again running and playing in Seger Dog Park with all of her friends.

I mean it more than ever when I say that every little bit counts. I have never cared more for a little pup like Kassidy, and I am very confident that with everyone’s help we will be able to help her return to good health and make her way back home safe and sound!
