Help Kassandra recover from Meningitis

Kassandra is a compassionate, bubbly, and outgoing 26-year-old who just graduated from UBC with her Masters of Physiotherapy in May 2022. Moving to the Island to start her new physio career, she started her first job at the Cowichan District Hospital in September 2022 and was beyond excited to work in a smaller community. Unfortunately, on February 8, 2023, her life changed drastically. Kassandra went through a very scary and life-threatening condition called Bacterial Meningitis, which is an infection of her brain and central nervous system. The first time she went to the hospital, they sent her home with a misdiagnosis and she went for another 7 days without treatment. Kassandra is a survivor; however, she is still fighting hard each day to get back to how she was before this condition.

Kassandra is now facing severe challenges. The Meningitis has significantly affected her walking and normal physical abilities. She suffers from speech impairment, cognitive effects, hearing difficulties, and financial hardship.

Due to the full-body effects of Meningitis, her recovery must involve a large and intense multidisciplinary approach that we have no coverage for, placing a large financial barrier to her recovery.

All funds will be used to support Kassandra's healing journey, so she can get back to helping others in their healing journey as a Physiotherapist in her community. Kassandra also would love to get back to doing things she loves, like playing music, creating art, playing sports, fishing with her family, and many more activities. Anyone who knows Kassandra has been positively impacted by her kindness, smile, and selfless personality. Kassandra's always helping others, and now it’s our turn to help her by supporting her rehab journey.
