Kase is a wonderful, kind-hearted, and bubbly 8-year-old boy whose life took an unexpected turn on August 26th.

On August 24th, Kase developed double vision and a headache. His parents took him to the local walk-in clinic. At that time, nothing emergent was detected. By the morning of August 26th, Kase had developed more concerning symptoms and was instructed to go to the ER in Kearney as they could provide a higher level of care. In the Kearney ER, he had a CT scan of his head which revealed a sizable mass in Kase's brain. It was determined Kase needed yet even a higher level of care, so he was flown to Children’s Hospital in Omaha.

Upon arrival, Kase underwent an array of testing, including MRIs and blood work. It was determined that Kase required emergent surgery to remove the brain tumor due to swelling in his brain. The following morning, August 27th, he underwent surgery. Thankfully, his neurosurgeon and team were AMAZING, and the mass was able to be fully resected!!!

Kase is out of the hospital and recovering. He is starting to regain his energy and his goofy personality is returning, but he still has a long road of recovery ahead. At this time, it is unknown what the tumor is. Pathology results will be back later this month, which will provide more answers as at this time there are many unknowns. It is unknown at this time how many more trips to Omaha Kase will need and what treatment he may require.

Unfortunately, the unexpected costs of this medical journey are adding up. Kase's family lives in a rural town on the other side of the state. It is costly to travel so far for the healthcare needs Kase requires at this time. We are hoping to get the Perdue family some support to help cover medical expenses, travel expenses, and lost wages. I know we can't take all the worry off his family's shoulders, but I'm hoping we can help alleviate some of their financial stress at least.
