Hi generous community, my name is Carrie Meadows and I'm the proud teacher of Karsen Stella Walker.

Meet Karsen Stella Walker, a brave and sweet 12- year -old girl who faces life with Xia - Gibbs Syndrome, an exceedingly rare condition affecting only about 400 people worldwide. This syndrome brings with it, visual impairment, developmental delays, and thinned Corpus Callsosum in her brain, coupled with severe bone development delays. Karsen's life has been a constant struggle, with numerous hospital stays and surgeries since she was little. However, her most significant and challenging surgery is scheduled at All Children's Hospital on August 9, 2023. During this procedure, Karsen will undergo bilateral cavobarus feet reconstruction with subtalar fusion mid-foot osteotomies and heel cord lengthening on both legs. The surgery is extensive, and her recovery will be an arduous journey for both Karsen and her family.

Following the operation, Karsen will be immobile for about 8-12 weeks, and her home will require several modifications to accommodate her needs. Unfortunately, the family faces a substantial out-of-pocket medical bill, as insurance does not cover essentials such as a medical bed, a ramp, and other necessary costs. Despite these challenges, Karsen is an extraordinary young girl who brings joy wherever she goes. Her infectious love for people and passion for acting on stage shines through her sparkling personality.

Karsen and her family have even created their own non-profit performing theater group, through which they give back to their community. Now, it is time for the community to rally around this special girl and her family. They would be eternally grateful for any support during this trying time, as they come together to help Karsen on her journey to recovery and learning to walk again. Let us join hands and show our support for this little girl who lights up the room with her bright spirit and determination.
