My name is Ray Ortiz - I live in Van Nuys California, and am writing on behalf of Karol Kleinbergs, whom I've been fortunate enough to have shared a 25 year long friendship.
Until Tuesday, January 7th, Karol Kleinbergs and her husband Erik shared a cherished home in the Palisades with their two elderly mothers. A few years ago, Karol achieved a dream: bringing her mother, Maria, from Venezuela to live safely with them in the U.S. Just recently, Maria celebrated becoming a U.S. citizen.
Their beloved home was more than a house—it was a vibrant gathering place for friends and family. It hosted joyous holiday celebrations, meaningful get-togethers, and even Karol and Erik’s wedding party.
When the fires swept through, Karol and Erik acted quickly to save what mattered most: their mothers, their beloved cat Stanley, and a few essential belongings. They fled to safety, leaving behind the home they had built with so much love. When it was safe to return, they found only ashes where their home once stood—a lifetime of memories reduced to rubble.
How Your Support Will Help
The funds raised will go directly toward helping Karol and her family provide stability for their elderly mothers.
Support for Their Mothers: Providing comfort and care for their mothers, both of whom are elderly and deeply impacted by this tragedy.
Essential Needs: Replacing clothing, furniture, kitchenware, and other daily necessities lost in the fire.
Pet Care: Ensuring their beloved cat Stanley is cared for during this transition.
Your support can help Karol and her family not only recover from this devastating loss but also rebuild the warmth and love they’ve always shared with their community.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Together, we can give the Kleinberg family a fresh start and the hope they need to move forward.
