Help Karna get back home

Hi, my name is Pushpa, a Nepalese citizen residing in Australia. I am raising funds to take my gravely sick father Karna, back home, to Nepal.

I invited my parents 3 months ago to visit us in Melbourne. He was very excited for his first visit to Australia. He had his itineraries planned. He wanted to visit historical places, libraries, museums, learn Australian slangs, try lobster.

In a week of his arrival, we had to take him to the Emergency in suspicion of a stroke. We were relieved to know it wasn’t a stroke, however his blood sugar level was extremely low.

He had mini seizures going on constantly in his brain. He also had liver cirrhosis leading to hepatic encephalopathy. All these issues were not detected back in Nepal. We started the treatments for those issues. He then started to have some confusion which the doctors thought was symptom of hepatic encephalopathy.

His treatments were going well, seizures were almost gone, liver cirrhosis was also somewhat controlled.

However his confusion and delirium increased day by day to the extent that he started hallucinating. His delirium is worsening day by day.The doctors suspected it may be a rare auto-immune disease but every single tests came negative.

Now, they have given up hope and suggested we take him back to his home suspecting the hallucinations and delirium to be hospital induced.

We are now stuck with no confirmed diagnosis, piles of bills from his 3 months of stay in the hospital and his degrading health. He has health insurance but they are only covering half of the cost since they confirmed his liver cirrhosis, a pre-existing condition which they won’t cover.

Our motive is to raise 50,000 AUD which is an approximate cost for his medical flight to Nepal. Due to his health conditions, the hospital hasn’t given him a pass to fly in a commercial flight.

This is our last hope, hope that maybe he will reverse back to his old self, in a familiar environment, with his friends and family around. Maybe he will start walking and do basic things like going to the loo by himself. Maybe he can recall his memory of reading and writing. Maybe he will be able to enjoy history, literature and sports again. Maybe he will recognise us. Maybe he will live a quality life again.
