In the recent Los Angeles wildfire that devastated Pacific Palisades, Karmel and Sandy Mizrahi lost their home of 52 years and every possession they owned.
For Karmel and Sandy, their home was far more than just a house—it was their sanctuary, the foundation of their family, and a symbol of everything they built together. Having challenges early in life without a stable sense of community, they were determined to create a different life for their future. They poured their hearts into their home and into building a strong, loving family. Their house in Pacific Palisades wasn’t just a roof over their heads; it was a symbol of their resilience, a safe haven where their children grew up surrounded by love, warmth, and joy. Later, it became the place where their grandchildren formed their own special memories with Grandma and Grandpa—a place of laughter, comfort, and fun.
Now, they are faced with the unimaginable task of starting over from nothing. Though they would never ask for help themselves, Karmel and Sandy have always been the first to offer kindness, generosity, and support to others. Whether it was opening their doors to friends and family, giving back to their community, or simply showing up for the people they love, they’ve lived their lives with open hearts. Now, they need that love and support in return.
52 years of love, history, and treasured possessions—all gone in a matter of moments. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. We are so grateful for everyone’s kindness and support - and know so many in our city are experiencing some kind of loss or challenge as well. No contribution is too small, and if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page with others would mean the world. Together, we can help Karmel and Sandy start a new chapter with the support of the community they’ve always cherished.
Thank you for your kindness. Lovingly, their daughters and sons-in-law,
Jackie & Aaron Kaufman, Rachel & Alex Lewis
