A few days ago, Karma started having stomach issues that I thought might pass. I adjusted her food and kept a close eye on her, but she wasn’t improving. I had a vet appointment scheduled, but things took a sudden and frightening turn before we could even make it there. Things became so severe I knew I couldn’t wait, so I rushed her to the emergency hospital. After the exam, I was given an estimate for care that was completely and utterly overwhelming. I felt devastated and helpless - but walking away wasn’t an option. We literally do not have the means to pay that kind of bill, so I worked closely with the vet team to reduce costs as much as possible, focusing only on the most critical care to give Karma a chance, making very difficult decisions just to begin treatment. Right now, she is staying 24 hours in the ICU while they start testing and provide supportive care. We are holding onto hope that what we’re able to do will be enough to help her pull through. So far, we’ve already been charged a significant amount using Care Credit, which is now maxed out. We’re also facing the reality of adding those payments into our monthly expenses while not knowing what additional care she may still need. We’ve received updates that she is responding well, but has still required additional supportive treatment in the ICU, and the costs are continuing to add up. We’re doing everything we can, but it’s already more than we can manage on our own.
Karma is a member of our family. She isn’t just a dog to us… she’s our baby, our companion, and a constant source of love in our home. We’re doing everything we can to get her through this. If you’re able to help in any way - whether through a donation or by sharing this - it would mean more to us than we can express. Thank you for holding Karma in your thoughts and for supporting our family during this time.
