Hello everyone. It is with heavy hearts that we share the recent passing of our beloved father, Karl. He was funny, compassionate, and hardworking - the kind of person who made everyone feel cared for and valued. Karl became our dad, at a time when we needed him most, and from that moment on, he gave us nothing but love, stability and laughter. After my mother being a victim of domestic violence for many years, she met Karl at the perfect time, who showed her what real love is supposed to look like.

A little over a year ago, Karl was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. As of the last month, Karl has suffered from two cardiac arrests and was fighting the good fight to overcome this devastating and painful disease. All he wanted was to be with his family. No matter how sick Karl got he continued to travel with my mom to bring my brother, Tristan, to his school, which is 1 hour and 15 minutes away, back and forth, to continue to support and watch him grow. My mother had been staying with him at Stony Brook University Hospital for over a month and upon release, true to his character, he faced every challenge with courage and an unwavering will to stay with us for as long as he could. On October 3rd, 2025, in the early morning hours, Karls woke up calling my mom's name. Choking and trying to breathe, Karl went into cardiac arrest. His daughter Breana performed CPR until paramedics could get there. Upon EMS arrival, they fought for his life for over 40 minutes to get him back.

We were told after he was brought to the hospital that he had sustained a global ischemic injury to the brain due to loss of oxygen, with no chance of a normal life, in addition to the cancer rapidly spreading.

Now as we say goodbye, we want to give Karl the beautiful farewell he deserves - one that reflects the love and light he brought to everyone around him. The funds here will go directly towards the family for funerals expenses, a memorial service, travel expenses, and helping our family maintain the household during this incredibly difficult and confusing time of learning to navigate life without Karl. We would be deeply grateful for any amount you are able to give as we honor Karls's memory and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man.

Karl leaves behind a loving, devoted wife, an autistic son, Tristan, and daughter, Breana.
