Help Karla Heal

On Tuesday morning, my business partner and friend Karla was viciously run down in the street by our store. She was on foot and he was in a car and needless to say, the coward had the upper hand. I am happy to say that police did apprehend the guy responsible and although it gives some peace of mind, it does not take away from the physical and mental damage done. Karla is one of the hardest working most empathetic people I know. She embodies true entrepreneurial spirit and gets up everyday giving 100% even when it's hard to do the best she can to provide a good life for her children. She would and has given her last to anyone in need. She is humble and loyal and we have spent the last 10 years building our business from nothing to what we have now.

Physically, both of her legs are broken. One is much worse than the other and required a lengthy surgery yesterday. The other leg will also require surgery which will take place in a few days. We are all rallying around her to make sure her kids are taken care of while she is in the hospital at this point. Our everyday routine is very physically taxing. We are always hopping in and out of our food truck/trailer as well as lifting heavy ingredients and standing for long periods of time. Since she is a key woman in our business, everybody has stepped up to try to fill her shoes while she is out. I could not be more proud of our little team right now. We appreciate so much the offers we have received to help us with labor ( which was already an issue before her assault).

If you know Karla, you know she will more than likely want to kill me for even posting a go fund me for her! ;-) She has always worked very hard for what she has. Being so close to the holidays also makes me want to take off pressure from her and make sure the kids have everything they want and need. I know it's hard for her mentally not to be able to work with us right now. We need her to know that her healing is top priority and rushing the process will not be good long term. Many people have been asking me what they can do to help and I didn't have a good answer besides sending good vibes/prayers etc. I am hoping to raise some funds for her to make her healing process a bit less stressful and even MORE importantly, to let her see just how many people she has in her corner. No matter the amount of donation, we want her to know that she has a village rooting for her recovery. On the tough and painful days ahead, we need her to know that she is not alone. Give if you can and let her know you are thinking about her.
