My family is looking for support to help my wife Karla (Grub) Roedersheimer through another difficult time. Just 10 years ago, Karla was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast Cancer. She fought hard for her life by completing chemotherapy, radiation, and having two surgeries for a partial mastectomy. She continues to be in remission. About 5 years later, Karla was diagnosed with heart failure, in need of open-heart surgery. Given the complexity of undergoing three, high-risk, heart surgeries, Karla demonstrated extreme resilience to continue life. She continues to live with one artery that is blocked but recovered well since then.
In 2025, Karla was 68 years old and still working full-time. In September, she unexpectedly learned that her place of employment would be closing permanently, leaving her without a job in less than two weeks. On her very last day of work, just hours before she would begin a new chapter, Karla suffered a devastating accident. She tripped at work and broke the humerus bones in both arms, as well as dislocated a shoulder. After months of minimal motion, physical therapy, pain, and heartbreak from not being able to hold her grandchildren, Karla was informed that her blood supply was cut off in the other shoulder and she was not healing properly. Her good shoulder has since become dysfunctional, and she will need a Reverse Shoulder Replacement on both shoulders.
Karla had her surgery scheduled but was advised to complete dental work beforehand to ensure no risk of infection. She went to the dentist prepared for two fillings, but was shocked to learn she must have all her teeth removed due to gingivitis, with an oral surgeon. After seeking a second opinion, Karla also discovered a cyst behind her teeth. Many of these health issues may have arisen from her past cancer treatments, but Karla continues to fight the battles and take on the challenges that cross her path. She is a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who has always given to others and rarely asked for help.
Unfortunately, Karla's dental work is not covered by insurance and is extremely expensive. For her to move forward, she must have her teeth completed before she can have the Reverse Shoulder Replacements. Our family is looking for support to help raise money for her dental work. Even if you can’t financially help, please keep her in your prayers and share her story. Thank you!
