Hello! I am Nate Kieso, a USPS letter carrier and licensed social worker. I live in West Allis, Wisconsin with my little Chihuahua-mix dog, Karl, who I got from MADACC (the pound), the week of Thanksgiving 2018. If you have had the chance to meet Karl, you know that he is a cheerful, animated dog who is excited to meet anyone. He means the world to me and is a constant companion.

I am asking for help because Karl’s health has worsened over the past year.

After receiving treatment for a routine UTI, the veterinarian discovered a growth in Karl’s abdomen and abnormal liver function. CT scans revealed that abdominal exploratory surgery is needed to remove the growth. Pet insurance will not cover the cost, as they deem the diagnosis to be a “pre-existing condition.”

Diagnostic imaging and labs, which identified the growth were costly, but I have been able to shoulder the burden so far; the cost of surgery for Karl, however, is staggering and we need your help.

I will use funds raised to pay for the costs Karl’s medical care. If the funds raised exceed those costs, I will donate the excess to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Center, where I got Karl. I am reaching out to the world because it is better with Karl in it and I want to spend as much quality time with my little buddy as he and I can.
