This is Karina - a 31 year old wonderful human being and she needs a new heart. She was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy 6 years ago and has been able to control it with an implanted defibrillator and medications up until November 2020. Since then, she has had three hospital stays and has progressed to stage IV heart failure. Karina has been placed on the heart transplant list and will remain on a continuous IV drip until she can get a new heart. She is unable to work or drive indefinitely. If you know Karina, you know how much she loves working as a nurse and helping to take care of people. Working is her passion (believe it or not!) and she would often work two jobs just because she loves it. Despite being dealt this life-altering diagnosis, she remains strong, upbeat, and hopeful. However, the medical bills have started to pile up. Hospital stays, medications, frequent tests and monitoring all add up, not to mention the heart transplant itself will be expensive. Our goal is to raise enough funds for Karina to not have to worry about the financial burden of it all and to focus on getting healthy. She is a proud person who doesn't ask for things so we are taking the reins and asking for her.
