Help Karin through open heart surgery & recovery

Karin Jensen is a great friend, with a radiant smile, humorous wit, and genuine soul. She has always opened her heart to us, and is now looking for support, as she now must face open-heart surgery to fix a genetic aortic valve insufficiency.

After learning of her diagnosis 14 years ago, it’s been a waiting game of when the aortic valve will have to be replaced. Karin has strived to live her life to the fullest. She works hard as a self-employed hair stylist and spends her free time learning to salsa dance and seeking out live music, and loves to design fun costumes. She is always the first to lend a hand to someone in need and volunteers her time within her church community. Karin has also just been connected with her biological family, after growing up alone in the harsh world of the foster care system. It’s only been a couple months, but she would very much like to get to know them more, in hopes of filling a gaping hole of belonging she has always had.

Earlier this year, Karin found out that her aorta had deteriorated to the point that the surgery would have to happen very soon; this on the heels of Covid-19 shutdowns that had forced her to close her business and halt her income base. Just barely seeing the beginning of getting back on her feet financially and now with only a few months to prepare for the impending surgery, Karin does not have the savings to financially survive the next several months of recovery.

We often take for granted our healthy bodies until an important part does not function like it should. Karin has not had that option, and has never let the fear drag her down. Please consider making a donation so the doctors can heal our friend’s heart so she can continue to share it with us.

100% donations will go towards:

~months of cardiac rehab and physical therapy

~medications

~general costs of living (food, utilities, mortgage)

~business expenses (maintaining her salon space)

~expense of caring for 2 rescue kitties
