My name is Kari. I'm 62 years old. I never thought I would do anything like this but I never thought my husband would leave me in this situation, either, so life is full of surprises. It will take $5,000 to save my house but right now I'm just trying to keep lights, water and gas.

My husband left 3 years ago without the benefit of divorcing me. When the house started needing major repairs, he decided adulting was too hard and ran off to Thailand. In the coming months I found out about secret bank accounts and credit cards that had been open for years. He hid away over $300K and it is all gone. When he moved, he would leave enough money in our account to pay the bills but he stopped doing that a year ago. I have no recourse against him while he is there because it requires a certain amount of his cooperation. I am disabled (still waiting on the state of Texas to consider me important enough to pay) and am unable to file for early Social Security because I have an active disability claim.

His now unpaid credit cards have driven my credit score down to 479 so between that and no income, I can't qualify to live anywhere else. I have borrowed all I can from friends so I've had to turn to strangers. I am months away from having any income at all. I do have some crochet items on Etsy but most Americans aren't willing to pay well for crochet items.

I am embarrassed but very desperate. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
