My name is Kari. My family is struggling right now. I am a single mom of a sick child. I live with my mother, brother, and teenage daughter. My mother is unable to work because of years of working with injuries that she never properly took care of, because she was a single mom who left an abusive relationship and raised two kids. My brother can work but is struggling to find a job in our community, and without a vehicle cannot go to the towns around us to work (if we had a better vehicle, he could easily get a job). Our only vehicle's engine blew on us. We have been without transportation for a few months in a community with NO public transportation that is not very walker-friendly. My daughter has autism and seizures, and to get her to her doctors in the closest city, I have to rent a vehicle and miss work, which takes money out of our only income.
I am covering most, if not all, the bills by myself and have gotten very behind on a few, and have found NO help from local resources, even though I have applied and asked. I also apparently make too much for government assistance, even though I am a single-income household. which is why I am turning to the kindness of strangers to help me catch up. I am not asking for a lot, just enough to keep from being evicted and to help keep the lights on. I grew up wondering where my next meal was coming from and if I was going to have heat on in the winter. I don't want to have to make those choices and have my daughter suffer. This is a very hard thing for me to do, as I was always taught growing up that asking for help is a bad thing to do, and you just have to work harder. If I work any harder, I will end up killing myself just to survive, and that would be of no help to anyone. I want to thank everyone in advance for helping.
