Help Karen with Josh's Funeral Costs

On April 6th, 2025, our dear friend and neighbor, Karen Hansley, lost her everything; her 22 year old son, Josh. Josh was a 15 year old kid when we moved in across the street and had already dealt with the heavy blow of losing his father at age 12. We noticed immediately that Josh was a quiet kid with a few good friends and he had a very close relationship with his mother who, over the years, we became close with. Not long after we moved in we saw Josh with a skateboard for the very first time and then we never saw him without one. If there was one thing besides his mother that Josh loved it was that skateboard. At one point, Josh worked for my husband in construction and he was a hard worker. Fast forward 7 years to the shocking moment where Josh, after years of struggling with addiction to prescription drugs, thought he had no other options and took his own life. It’s never easy to lose a child and it’s especially difficult under these circumstances. Karen was unprepared to pay for cremation and all the other costs associated with losing a family member. We are simply asking for help with these unforeseen and unexpected financial burdens when it’s already so difficult dealing with moving forward when your most precious person is not here to move forward with you. And it’s not just Karen who is suffering this loss, everyone who knew Josh will miss him. He was sweet and quiet and caring. He put the needs of his family and friends first. I know I will never see him skating down our street again and it breaks my heart.
