Help Karen with her treatment and medical bills

Donation protected
Hi,

My name is Karen P., I am 29 years old and I am hoping to get some help to pay medical bills and my current treatment as a result of my medical condition. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis on 2015 and with Lupus on 2016. Ever since a mumber of tests/imaging/treatments/medication regimen have been done all with large amounts of co pays and patient responsibility that insurance would not cover.

Right now I'm on a new treatment called Benlysta. This treatment is fundamental for my speedy recovery and the minimization of future relapses. But my insurance only covers a certain amount. I am still responsible for a co pay of over 3,000 a month. Up to now, all those bills have been accumulating to the point where I started doing a payment plan but I can't even afford to make those payment plans which is a total of $350 a month. I got Covid in January of this year and since then my health has been deteriorating. I have been forced to miss a lot of work days which means I am barely making it to pay my essential bills such as rent, electricity, food, car payment. I fractured a rib in Febuary of this year as a result of still having Covid symptoms and not being able to rest because I have to ensure I pay the roof over my head. I have applied for government assistance but have been denied several times. I have developed Pericarditis/Pleurasy as a result of other issues that have developed. I have also severe nerve pain that doesn't go away. And sometimes I can't afford to buy my monthly prescriptions.

I am in the healthcare field! I am a mental health counselor! And at this moment I feel like I can't even help my patients the way I want to because I am in constant pain! My job is my passion I want to continue to make a positive change in this world! Unfortunately, I got fired from my job this March 11th, 2022 for taking a leave of absence in spite of my doctor determining that my health was getting worse ever since I got Covid and recommended some personal time off.

As of right now, I continue to get medical bills stating they will go to collections.  I was able to get a job at Hampstead Hospital through an agency of six month contract.  I just recently found out that my contract is ending before the six month period. Now they will end my contract on July 31st.

This means my insurance ended yet again which means I had to stop my treatment once again.  Risking me having another possible flare up. I feel like my health will never improve if I continue to struggle with insurance and having to stop treatments abruply has really made my body deteriorate faster.  Once again I am here asking from the bottom of my heart if you are unable to donate which I completely understand "I'm not the only struggling" to please share so the word can get out more.

I am currently unemployed, attempting to get benefits but still in the process.  I am afraid I will not have money to pay my rent next month.

I feel like I might have to stop working and working is the one thing that keeps me going, that motivates me to get up each day and help my patients.  Being able to know that I can be that person making a change in someone elses life is rewarding for me.  It will break my heart if I do end up having to stop working, this is why I need your help.

Anything helps! I truly appreciate every one of you. And God bless!
