This is Karen and just before Christmas, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Karen is a single mother, with a young teenage daughter who is still at school. Her whole family has rallied around her to try and help. Because of her diagnosis, she has had to pull her daughter out of the school that she was in, leave her home, and move in with family. Her whole family has pitched in all of their savings for her medical expenses. And yet, they still don't have enough to continue with the treatment that she so desperately needs.
Karen is such a lovely person, for the last 10 years, she has been working as a graphic designer, working Some of the biggest brands in the world. Everybody who deals with Karen says that she's an absolute pleasure to deal with. Her design skills, a second none, they're definitely world class. Just before Christmas, while she was working, she started suffering from headaches. Following the headaches, one day, she couldn't see her computer screen and her vision started to fail. She went to a local hospital, where they did further tests and discovered that she had a brain tumor.
Karen lives in the Philippines, and in the Philippines, medical expenses, compared to other countries in the world, are not anywhere near as expensive, yet, for the people that live in the Philippines. It's still a large cost.
Something a lot of people don't know about Karen is that for the last 10 years, she's been putting smiles on kids faces because she quietly designs these amazing team photos and trading cards that kids absolutely love, and she does this for local sports clubs. What she really needs and what her family really needs is a little bit of help from those of us who are better off.
As I said before, her family has taken all their savings combined and use it for her medical treatment. She's used all her savings. And for those of us who are slightly better off, we could help her by giving a small amount. But those of us who are doing well or who are in business $500 is not a lot of money, but for her, it will go a long way to her medical treatment and easing the burden on her daughter and on her family. If you can't give $500.
$100 or $50, anything you can give would be greatly appreciated.
The reality is that if Karen doesn't recover, or she needs ongoing care, it's highly likely that her daughter will have to leave high school, cancel the rest of her education, to stay home and care for her.
The burden on a family will mean other family members can't work full time because they'll need to stay home and care. But with the right medical care, with a little bit of extra money, they can get top doctors in a good hospital to help her.
I know that not everybody can afford to donate. But if you can, I ask that you click on the GoFundMe page link below and you give a little bit.
If you can't afford to donate, I just ask that you share this video. And that humanities compassion pitches in together to help Karen and her daughter and her family so that she might make a full recovery and get back to a normal life.
I thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video and reading this page.
And I thank you if you donate because I can tell you now, a small amount of money from you will make a huge difference to this lovely woman and her daughter.
