Many of you know our dear sweet, Karen McCaw.
What you may not know is that on March 24th, 2019, while attending her mother's 95th birthday celebration out in Southern California, Karen suffered a brain bleeding stroke. She spent the next several months in the hospital out in San Diego, then more months in rehab fighting to regain use of her left side. Finally in July, Karen was allowed to come home to Arizona only to end up back in the hospital with a very serious infection caused from being in Medical care facilities for so long(not uncommon).
Karen is a fighter, she has an amazing attitude and even through all she has been dealing with her main concern each day is others, all the people she knows and loves..... Are they okay? Did she remember to call and wish (sing) them a Happy Birthday? Are they happy? She is a beautiful soul ❤️.
Here is the state of affairs as of today:
Karen was allowed to return home to her little apartment 2 days ago. She is on a walker, needs to continue in-home health care, is not allowed to drive and cannot work. (she has cleaned homes, cared for the elderly and done in-home pet care for the past 25 or more years). She now has no income other than her social security, which was cut in half while she was in the hospital due to a form not being filled out and turned in on time. (She was in the Hospital trying to recover from a stroke!) Her rent was due on the 1st. She was able to pay it today due to the generosity of a family member and a previous client. Upon doing so, she is now left with $8 in her account to live on this month. Next month she does not know how she will pay the rent, buy food and pay her bills. Ultimately we need to find her an apartment or senior living apartment that is on the first floor (her current apartment is second floor and very difficult for her to access with her walker and limited use of left knee).
I am setting up this "gofundme" account in the hopes that those of you who know her, who's lives she has touched, who's children she has cared for and loved, would find it in your hearts to contribute, take some of your charitable giving, and give to someone we know, someone who desperately needs it and who would eternally appreciate it.
For those of you who do not know Karen personally, I am in hopes that you would take our word for it, that anything you can find in your heart to share to help Karen would be an amazing contribution to our community, right here at home! Anything will help and Everything is Appreciated.... and please share our link on your FB or social media of choice.
God Bless, thank you!
