My name is Karen Knox, and I never imagined I would need to ask for help like this. During a police operation at my home, officers forcibly entered the property and deployed tear gas inside the house. Doors were broken down, windows shattered, and walls damaged. Tear gas residue spread throughout the home, contaminating the air, walls, and personal belongings. No warrant was presented at the time. When the operation ended, my home was left unsafe and unlivable. What was once a place of stability and peace now requires extensive repairs and professional remediation just to be habitable again. The damage was sudden, overwhelming, and entirely beyond my control.

The funds raised will go directly toward replacing broken doors and shattered windows, repairing damaged walls, framing, and structural areas, professional tear gas cleanup and environmental remediation, securing the home to prevent further deterioration, and basic restoration so the home can be lived in safely. Estimates show these repairs are urgent and unavoidable.

I have spent years giving back to my community—helping build gardens, safe spaces, and resources for others. Asking for help does not come easily, but today I must rely on the same compassion and community strength I’ve always believed in. This fundraiser is about restoring safety, dignity, and stability after a traumatic event. Every contribution—large or small—helps move this home one step closer to recovery.
