Karen Jackson, my mother, has dedicated over 20 years to serving St. Louis City and has lived in North City for more than 30 years. Since 2015, she has lost four vehicles—three of them in just the last three years—because of speeding, reckless driving, and negligence in her neighborhood. Despite her repeated requests for speed bumps and planters to slow down traffic, the city and her Alderwoman have not responded.
Karen faces several chronic health issues that require weekly doctor’s appointments and physical therapy. The situation became even more difficult after the May 16, 2025 tornado, which destroyed her garage and left her without a safe place to park. Her car insurance has increased dramatically, making it impossible for her to afford both a car note and insurance on her fixed income.
This has been an overwhelming experience for Karen, and she is struggling to maintain her independence and access the care she needs. Funds raised will help her purchase a new or used vehicle so she can safely get to her medical appointments and regain some stability. Any help will be greatly appreciated. This experience could happen to any of us, and your support means the world to our family.
