Help Karen get her US Citizenship

Hello! My name is Karen Asplund and I’ve been a permanent resident for 15 years. Since moving to the US from Venezuela, I was adopted by my step-dad at 16, and I took his name and renewed my permanent residency. This changed my status from US immigrant (fee of $725) to Adoptee of US citizen ($1170). 

Since I am a full-time student, living independently and working, I haven’t been able to successfully save for this fee.  For my birthday (Dec 20th) I ask my community to help this dream of becoming a US citizen come true. 

Becoming a US citizen would open many gates for me. In school, I would finally be able to study abroad and gain international experience in my field. I would be able to vote and have my voice be heard politically. It would also decrease the hurdles with paperwork for living situations, school, and work. Overall, it would be a weight and label off my chest.
