Karen, my niece, has been battling heart issues for a number of years, but this year has been the most difficult. She needs her pacemaker replaced, and recently learned that one of her heart valves is not functioning properly. An MRI is required to determine the best medical procedure to repair it. Unfortunately, the nearest medical facility with the proper equipment for these procedures is located in Denver, Colorado, which is a long way from Karen and her husband Paul's home in McIntosh, New Mexico.

Both Karen and Paul are disabled and survive on a fixed income. With the rising costs of fuel, food, and lodging, these medical trips place a severe burden on their finances. Family members have donated some funds, but it is not enough to cover the expenses for the trip and the medical care Karen needs. The funds raised will help cover travel expenses, lodging, food, and medical costs, making it possible for Karen to get the care she needs without overwhelming financial stress.
