Help Karen Find Stability and Support

Karen has been like a second mother to me and many others since my teenager years. No matter what she was going through, she was always there for us—offering rides home from parties, cooking meals, and providing a safe space, all while managing her own limited resources. Her kindness and generosity have left a lasting impact on everyone who knows her.

Unfortunately, the past year has been extremely hard for Karen. Over ten months ago, her husband of 10 years left unexpectedly, leaving her to cover all the bills and household responsibilities on her own. Despite working hard, Karen has struggled to make ends meet on a single income. On top of this, she took time off work to support her sister after a devastating car accident claimed the lives of her sister’s husband and daughter.

Additionally, over the past few years Karen has been Nadia's primary support system and she has had to take time off work to help Nadia and has poured her heart—and her savings—into supporting her, and now, she needs our help. She’s hoping to move into a new, cheaper apartment where both she and her Nadia can have separate spaces, providing the stability they both desperately need. The cost of moving—first and last month’s rent, a security deposit, moving vans, and utility hookup fees— along with groceries and bills, has made this transition nearly impossible without support.

Karen has always been there for us—whether it was a ride, a meal, or just a listening ear. Now is our chance to be there for her.
