Help Karen Etter and her family

Karen Etter was diagnosed with Cervical cancer in 2016.  She battled the cancer with chemotherapy and radiation and had been in remission for 5 years.  In October of 2020 Karen started feeling some pain in the side of her hip.  At first, she thought it was just a side effect from her previous chemo and radiation treatments.  The pain did not go away and seemed to get worse.  After several doctors’ appointments and physical therapy, Karen followed-up with her original Cervical cancer doctor who suggested she have a scan done.  He did not feel it was an emergency so it was scheduled for February 3, 2021, which was 5 years after her Cervical cancer was found.  Unfortunately, the following day after the scan the doctor called Karen to tell her the scan results were not good.  Her doctor suspected that Karen developed a secondary cancer which appeared to be very aggressive.  In the 4 weeks following the scan Karen has had 2 biopsies that both have not provided a diagnosis.  Karen’s pain has continued to increase daily and her mobile ability has drastically decreased.  She has a broken rib and has had fluid drained from her lungs.  There have been 3 more soft tissue biopsies taken, which the results have not yet been received.  She is schedule to meet with a cancer specialist in Pittsburgh, however her family is unsure how they will transport her there as she is in excruciating pain and traveling is not easy.  Unfortunately, Karen and her family continue to fight through this the best they can waiting on answers.  Karen is 39 years old with a loving and supportive husband (Mike) and a great 9-year-old son (Blake). Karen’s husband is working when he can, but has been by her side as much as possible.
