Support Karen Costello & North Shore Families in Rebuilding After Devastating Floods
The Crisis on the North Shore
In the early morning hours of Friday, March 20, 2026, a torrential rainstorm struck Oʻahu’s North Shore. The resulting floods didn't just damage property—they upended lives. Governor Josh Green estimates statewide damages exceed $1 billion, leaving many of our neighbors in shock.
Meet Karen Costello: A Lifetime of Service
Among those who lost everything is our dear neighbor and friend, Karen Karen Costello (legal name: Stephanie Karen Costello, the beneficiary). At 66, Karen is the kind of person who makes a community feel like a family. To our 2-year-old daughter, Zoey, she is the beloved "Auntie" across the street.
Karen has spent her life helping others overcome the impossible:
- For the Military: She spent 13 years as a suicide prevention and performance consultant, helping thousands of soldiers navigate PTSD and find the resilience to keep going.
- For the Youth: Prior to her work with the military, she spent 30 years as a U.S. Track and Field coach, mentoring everyone from high schoolers to Olympic medalists.
A Perfect Storm of Misfortune
Last fall, Karen was impacted by federal funding cuts (DOGE) to military suicide prevention programs and has been searching for new employment ever since. Now, this flood has taken her home, her car, and many of her personal belongings. To make matters worse, her homeowner’s insurance is offering zero coverage for the damage.
How You Can Help
Karen’s cost to rebuild is estimated to exceed $150,000. She is facing the overwhelming task of rebuilding her life from scratch at a time when she was already out of work.
We are raising funds to provide immediate relief. 100% of your donations will go directly to Karen.
Your contribution, no matter the size, helps return the favor to a woman who has spent 40 years helping others cross the finish line and find hope.
