Help Karen Continue Her Impactful Work

My name is Karen Lopez Scott. I am a wife, mother, and most recently the founder and CEO of my small business: L.I.F.E. Recovery, Training, & Coaching.

After having been laid off in June 2025 from my full-time job, I launched my business as a way to continue making the difference that I was making before, increasing the impact that I could have, and continue the impactful work that I was doing. My commitment to the gender-based violence movement dates back to 2011 and my job is not yet done.

Every day, survivors of gender-based violence face unimaginable barriers — escaping abuse, navigating legal systems, finding safe housing, and rebuilding their lives. Too often, these barriers are made worse by a lack of access to trauma-informed, culturally humble, survivor-led support. Worse yet, there are many gaps in the systems that survivors must access to gain support that are not knowledgeable on the intricacies and nuances of gender-based violence. There are also systems that are plagued with inequities that lack survivor-centered approaches, trauma-informed foundations, and culturally-humble service provision.

At L.I.F.E. Recovery, Training, & Coaching, our mission is:

To empower, and support transformation of, individuals and organizations with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to navigate life's challenges, foster equitable relationships, and create inclusive environments where everyone can thrive in a person-centered and trauma-informed manner.

I am committed to continuing to provide direct services to survivors — coaching, safety planning, and resource navigation — while focusing my business on community education. Our goal is to help individuals, organizations, and communities learn how to foster supportive, survivor-centered environments that are trauma-informed, culturally humble, and safe.

Why We Need Your Help
This campaign is more than a fundraiser — it’s the launchpad for a survivor-led initiative that will transform how communities respond to and support survivors of gender-based violence.

Traditional funding streams often require years of operating history, lengthy approval processes, or restrictions that prevent immediate action. By securing seed funding now, we can:

Provide Immediate Survivor Support – ensuring survivors in crisis have access to coaching, safety planning, and resources without delay

Build Strategic Connections and Partnerships – creating a robust network of allies across nonprofits, legal services, reentry programs, and community organizations

Deliver High-Impact Community Education – equipping individuals and organizations with the knowledge and skills to foster safe, survivor-centered, trauma-informed environments

Invest in Infrastructure for Growth – professional tools, technology, and operational systems that expand our capacity to serve

Position L.I.F.E. Recovery for Long-Term Sustainability – using this seed capital to qualify for larger grants, corporate sponsorships, and collaborative projects

Earlier this year, both my husband and I experienced sudden job losses — his in April, mine in June. While these challenges could have delayed my mission, they instead fueled my determination to move forward. This seed funding ensures that L.I.F.E. Recovery will launch strong and begin serving survivors and educating communities immediately, without interruption.

Our Goal
We are raising $15,000 in seed funding to establish and sustain our survivor-led programs and community education initiatives through 2025.

Every contribution has a direct, tangible impact:

$50 = 1 individual recovery coaching session for a survivor in crisis

$150 = A complete survivor safety and recovery toolkit

$500 = A community education workshop for up to 25 participants

$1,000+ = Critical seed funding to scale our reach and secure long-term stability

How You Can Help
Your support does more than provide immediate relief — it invests in a future where survivor-centered services are sustainable and accessible, and where communities are equipped to support survivors with compassion and skill.
