Help Karen & Clayton rebuild a life after the fire

With so much going on in this world, nowadays, you never know quite what to say when tragedy strikes close to home. Here is an example of how dangerous a space heater can be. What can comfort you in the coldness of the night can quickly become deadly and turn a family’s world upside down. I want to share how orchestrated and divinely-timed one family’s household burned completely to the ground while attending a late night event the Saturday following Thanksgiving. The family is Karen Key-Scott & her son Clayton and their multiple family dogs and horses. They left the dogs cozy in the house in the afternoon to attend their evening event only to come home later that evening to find the whole house burned down. The 4 dogs, 2 being service dogs, were long time companions of Karen & Clayton. They were trapped inside and all died in the fire. Lucy, Lila, Bruno, and Tallulah. May they rest in peace. The horses survived but a variety of different accommodations are needed for them. With no insurance, the difficulties are abundant. With the cleanup, disposal, and rebuilding of an entire life of belongings and a new home needed, the expenses are incredible. Karen and Clayton are faced with completely rebuilding all aspects of life. It is a time to look for blessings among this tragedy. It is a time of learning and growing not only for them but it is an example for others to have appreciation, awareness, preparedness, gratitude, and a myriad of other aspects one can attain from such a situation. We are very lucky this fire did not happen while they were at home asleep. What a precise time to occur while they were away. Some would say it is a divine timing. With this much happening all at once, Karen and Clayton need essentials, clothes, a new house, everything that goes in a house and just trying to get back to a normal life. The expenses they face are high and at these early stages, difficult to calculate. Karen wants to be modest and of course they are looking for the least expensive way to achieve everything. The thing is, Karen & Clayton are kind, loving, helpful individuals who have always been there for others and bring a helping hand. Many times, they are the only ones who show up. They deserve so much after all they’ve been through. There have been many difficult situations they’ve gone through in the last couple of years. It will be so wonderful to see them have a nice house to live in, a peaceful place to be, a new start to life, a new beginning and see how much others care for them coming together and helping them as much as we can through this time. Karen and Clayton are peaceful, sober individuals, they are meaningful to many people, and deserve a decent come back from losing so much in this fire. I look forward to seeing all of the generosity and assistance that comes together for these wonderful people.
upon contemplating the amount of money to ask for this fundraiser, I have decided to focus on the cleanup of the burnt down house, which includes the cleanup & haul-off of the materials left from the fire, as well as coming up with a new house for them. I have contacted reputable companies that can provide the services to inquire general pricing. for a proper clean up and haul off of this particular fire, it is estimated somewhere between 6 to $8000. I have also contacted a modular home company to inquire the going price for a decent home and what is the range of the price including all fees associated with the house to be properly put onto the property with all associated factors involved. The range in price is between 110,000 to 210,000 for them to get a normal regular-sized modular home placed on this property. these manufactured homes are modern, safe, and come with all of the appliances included. I am aware of ready-made shed style structures that can be built between 10,000 and 16,000 that can be built out with sheet rock and window units- that would be the low end price for putting a livable structure on their land. and we have already discussed getting a rolloff container placed on the property to be able to work on removing the debris from the property. One container is somewhere between 800 and $1000 for all associated fees and proper disposal. (give or take) the owner of the rolloff container company stated that it will require several containers to achieve the whole cleanup work associated with this. trying to do the work without proper knowledge and understanding may be more than the nice volunteers that want to help could
properly handle. The demolition company has quoted the previously mentioned price between 6 and $8000 to achieve the complete clean up. when discussing a fundraiser with Karen, she wanted to tentatively put somewhere around 30 to 35,000 on the request for funds. I think a lot can be achieved with that, but that doesn’t include a lot of factors that she has to go through to put back their whole entire life, such as replacing the interior items of the house, putting things back together and other items. The modular home that I investigated includes appliances, and all sorts of other items & programs that come included, which is a nice bonus. I mention all these items so that everybody is aware of how I hope to help them and the more organized & knowledgeable everybody is about things the better they can help them and the better Karen and Clayton can be focused on getting their life back together. I think that asking for 100k is reasonable seeing as every aspect of their life has to be replaced such as the inside of the house, the clothing, the furniture, all of the items they own- plates, curtains, rugs, everything, to have to replace it all in one go is mind-boggling…
I give gratitude and thanks for all of the generosity that comes by the way of Karen and Clayton during this time of rebuilding their life after this terrible fire.
I want to add this as well, because this article is a good guideline for anyone looking for ways to help : https://www.elledecor.com/life-culture/a15966100/how-to-help-after-a-house-fire/ Thank you for reading and helping Karen & Clayton rebuild their life after this fire.
