On the 5th of May my mother told me she had a tumor about the size of a grape. She has been experiencing slight memory loss and optical issues, likely related to the meningioma tumor pressing on the frontal lobe of her brain. After consulting a panel of medical experts, she was promptly referred to a surgeon. She will be receiving surgery on the 22nd of June at St. Luke’s Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. I am asking friends, family and patrons of GoFund me for assistance. Amidst several life events and my current situation, extra money during this next month would be enormous for my family.

My mother will go into surgery on the 22nd of June, and hopefully be discharged 4 days later on the 26th. Her estimated recovery will take 4 weeks, in which I will be needing to help her with daily tasks such as preparing meals, washing clothes, cleaning the surgery site, and other tasks. I am currently working full time in a restaurant, and am only available during the morning hours until 3pm, and work 5 days a week. Restaurants traditionally slow during the summer season, and I have already noticed a drop in my earnings.

I am cautiously describing some recent life events which are leading me to ask for assistance through this platform. On March the 23rd of 2020 my father passed away. In a frail state, he was admitted to a hospital days earlier and rapidly declined. This was likely correlated with the influx of medical-cases into the emergency rooms globally amidst the beginning of the COVID pandemic.

I felt the vast dread of feeling alone once again when my mother was diagnosed with her brain tumor. Losing my father was a grief filled ordeal which we are still recovering from. On Saturday, the 28th of May, we lost my grandmother at the age of 90. This recent anguish has placed financial strain on our small family. My mother has spent the last few days planning my grandmother’s funeral while also traversing doctors appointments related to her diagnosis. My mother’s initial surgery date was sooner, however due to this unforeseen trail, my mother’s surgery was postponed by one week. The medical professionals resolutely suggested her surgery as quickly as possible due to the tumor's effect on her brain.

I have not been in the position to help her while still working full time to cover my own expenses. Her journey has been difficult, and I would like to support her as best I can during her recovery process. I am asking for the generosity of strangers to help me financially to support my loving mother.

I would endlessly treasure the experience to help my mother through her recovery. In order to support my mother through this, I see the need to take time off to assist her over the final weeks of June and beginning of July. I would love to support her and to provide the foundation she has unfalteringly and graciously given me over my 24 years.
