My amazing mom has begun her journey against breast cancer and is doing so with a brave face.

My mom lives her life with a “glass half full mentality” which is evident in the way she has chosen to respond to this life changing news. She is a fantastic mother, a supportive and encouraging sister, caring daughter and a thoughtful and special friend too many. Karen has a special light and it’s because of this light she has such a large support group to see her through these difficult days that lie ahead.

Due to the type of breast cancer Karen has, she now has to face a really intense form of chemotherapy, followed by surgery, radiation, and some other medications that aren’t covered by Alberta Health Care.

The financial burden associated with her journey against breast cancer is daunting. She has had to stop work for the foreseeable future because of her intense chemo regimen. Our goal with this fundraising is to take some of the financial stress away from her and my family and to allow my mom to put all of her heart and soul into the tough journey that lies ahead. My mom has faced all of this awfulness like a true rock star.

She doesn’t ask for pity or sympathy, just for everyone to send some positive vibes, strength, and love. The support from her friends and family has already been so amazingly overwhelming and Karen has been extremely grateful for the support she has already has been given. Let’s continue to support Karen’s journey, and help her succeed in becoming her healthy self again.
