2025 has brought one challenge after another—an unexpected divorce, expensive home repairs, and now a medical emergency that nearly took my life.
October and November were supposed to be my financial recovery months. I waited all summer for my busiest work season. Unfortunately, my right ovary had other plans.
On September 25th, an ovarian cyst burst—something that happens to me about once a year. I didn’t think much of it and pushed through the discomfort. I treated myself with Tylenol and Ibuprofen and kept working, despite feeling off. On Sunday, October 5th, I thought I had food poisoning. By Monday night, October 6th, I had a 102° fever for almost 48 hours, along with severe abdominal pain. I went to the ER.
At the ER, I was diagnosed with a massive burst ovarian cyst measuring 10x10x8 cm. I had a 103° fever and was admitted immediately. Over the next few days, my condition worsened to sepsis. On Friday, October 10th, the Infectious Disease team joined my care. A second CT scan was ordered, along with a new antibiotic—one that caused a serious reaction. I spiked another fever, experienced seizure-like symptoms, and triggered a Rapid Response Team to come to my room due to dangerously high blood pressure and pulse. Then I was given morphine, which I negatively reacted to—losing 10 years of memory for several hours. I didn’t understand why I was in the hospital.
Thanks to the advocacy of my close friends Amanda and Jasmine, I received the critical care I needed. When a second burst cyst and inflamed fallopian tube were discovered, emergency surgery was decided Friday night. The doctors found severe pelvic inflammatory disease when they cut me open. My internal organs had adhered to my abdominal wall from the infection. My right ovary, right fallopian tube, and two large cysts were removed. The doctors informed Amanda and Jasmine, without the surgery, I would have been in the ICU in 12-24 hours—fighting for my life.
Now I’m home, slowly recovering. The infection spread to my hips, so I’m working to regain strength and relearn how to walk properly. I’ve had to hand off all my birth and postpartum clients for the next 6–8 weeks, resulting in a total loss of income during my healing period.
I’m humbly asking for help to cover:
-Medical and physical therapy expenses not covered by insurance
-Lost income while I recover
-Basic living expenses while I heal
My goal is to walk into divorce court next month not just on my own two feet, but stronger—body, mind, and spirit. Any support, whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply kind words, means more than I can express.
UPDATE October 21, 2025
Thank you for all your donations. I am walking better today. I feel stronger today than I have since surgery. I’m working on taking deep breaths without pain. I can tell my organs have been rearranged which is a strange feeling.
