My name is Kareem, I am 30 years old. Before the war, I worked in a women’s clothing shop, and this job was my main source of income to support my family and contribute to building a stable future I worked for over many years to achieve.
When the war began, the shop where I worked was bombed and destroyed, and I lost my only source of income. My family and I were forced to flee to the south of Gaza, where the extreme cost of rent, food, water, and basic living needs quickly consumed all my savings.
When we returned in January 2025, we found only part of our home still standing. It was heavily damaged and burned, but at least it had a roof. I tried to rebuild my life from whatever was left. I worked in any available job and later in freelance digital marketing, doing everything I could to keep my family alive under unbearable conditions.
Then famine and repeated displacement took away what remained.
In September 2025, we were forced to leave again, and only twenty days later our home was completely destroyed. From that moment, it felt like we were not starting from zero anymore, but from less than nothing.
After years of engagement and waiting, I finally got married during the war, hoping that life might still allow us a chance to live in peace. But only one month after marriage, my income collapsed completely until it was no longer enough even for a few days of basic living.
Then came the most beautiful and most terrifying news of my life: my wife is pregnant.
Instead of joy and stability, I found myself overwhelmed with fear. My wife’s health had already been severely affected by famine and malnutrition during the hardest months of the war. Today, she urgently needs proper nutrition, vitamins, medication, and medical follow-ups throughout her pregnancy, while I struggle to provide even the most basic needs.
Today, I am one of the main providers for my family after we lost all sources of income.
Our monthly essential needs in full detail are listed below.
We currently live in a rented home costing around $800 per month, alongside $700 for basic living expenses, and $300 for electricity and water due to reliance on fuel-powered generators under extremely high fuel prices.
Monthly Essential Needs Breakdown
- Rent: $800 per month
(Basic housing to keep my wife, unborn child, and family sheltered)
- Basic living expenses (food & daily necessities): $700 per month
(Food, water, and essential household supplies under extremely high prices)
- Electricity and water: $300 per month
(Minimum energy and water supply, mainly dependent on fuel-powered generators due to high fuel costs)
- Medical care, pregnancy support & nutrition:
(Includes vitamins, medication, and medical follow-ups for my pregnant wife, who requires special care due to health deterioration during the famine period)
Creating this fundraiser was not an easy decision for me. I have always believed in hard work and self-reliance, but today I am simply trying to protect my pregnant wife, prepare for our child’s arrival, and keep my family under a safe roof during one of the most difficult times of our lives.
Any support, donation, or even sharing this campaign could help us survive this reality and give our child a safer beginning than the one we are currently living.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for standing with us in this extremely difficult chapter of our lives.
