My name is Kerem, and I live in Rome, Italy. I am organizing this fundraiser to help Karam, a Palestinian father of four children whom I first came into contact with through the Jamaa platform. Since then, we have remained in regular contact, and over time he has shared with me what he and his family are going through in Gaza.

Karam has told me that his home was destroyed, his wife was killed, and he was injured. Today, he lives in a tent with his four children, his parents, his younger sister, and his cousin, Salma Nafez Ewshah.

Before the war, Karam worked as a teacher at a private school. He has told me that the school where he worked was destroyed and that he is now without work.

Karam is also dealing with serious health difficulties. He has been diagnosed with hernias on both sides and previously underwent surgery on the left side. The remaining hernia on his right side may require another operation, but he has explained that surgery would require a prolonged period of rest at a time when his family depends on him to fetch water, food, and firewood for cooking. He has shared medical documents with me relating to his condition and previous treatment.

As winter approaches, their situation is becoming even more difficult. Karam needs to replace their tent and obtain tarps to better protect his family from rain, flooding, and cold weather.

Karam had tried to create a fundraising link himself to prepare his family for winter, but he was unable to make the fundraising system work from Gaza. After getting to know him, hearing about his family’s situation, and seeing the photographs and documents he shared with me, I decided to organize this fundraiser from Italy on their behalf.

The donations will help Karam and his family with essential needs such as food, clean water, clothing, shelter, replacing and protecting their tent for winter, medical expenses including Julia’s eye treatment, and other necessary daily expenses.

Karam has also recently shared with me that his 7-year-old daughter, Julia, is facing a serious eye condition involving misalignment. According to Karam, doctors have advised that she requires three surgical procedures at different stages. He explained that the first operation, including treatment and replacement eyeglass lenses, is estimated to cost approximately $700, which the family cannot currently afford. He has also provided me with medical documents and examination results relating to her condition.

How the donations will reach the family

Because Karam cannot receive GoFundMe funds directly in Gaza, the funds raised through this campaign will first be received by me in Italy.

I will then personally transfer the donations from my bank account in Italy to a Bank of Palestine account belonging to Karam’s cousin, Salma Nafez Ewshah. Salma lives in the same tent with Karam and his family and is also one of the family members this fundraiser is intended to support.

I understand that this arrangement requires trust, so transparency is extremely important to me.

Before asking others to contribute, I sent a small amount of my own money through this same transfer route to make sure it worked. The transfer successfully reached Salma’s Bank of Palestine account, and Karam confirmed that the funds were received without any problems.

I have included documentation of this successful transfer among the fundraiser photos. As further donations are raised and transferred, I will keep records of the transfers and, whenever possible, share updates and supporting documentation so donors can see how their support is reaching the family.

I am organizing this fundraiser personally. I am not an organization or a charity — I am simply someone who came into contact with a father and his family going through extremely difficult circumstances and decided to do what I can to help them.

Every contribution, no matter how small, can help Karam and his family meet their daily needs and prepare for the winter ahead. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser can also make a real difference.

Thank you sincerely to everyone who chooses to support Karam, his children, and their family.

May God reward everyone who helps them.
