I need a hip replacement. I went from being a nurse able to run up and down stairs and quickly respond to emergencies, to limping slowly and struggling to stand. I am unable to sleep, sit, or walk without pain and difficulty. The cartilage in my left hip is gone leaving that leg an inch shorter. The doctor said if cortisone shots didn't work, I'd need it replaced immediately.      The cortisone worked at first. I was able to walk and work. The shots wore off. New x-rays show further deterioration, and the next series of shots didn't work. Now I can barely get into a chair, and after sitting, I can't walk. Unable to do my job as a charge nurse, I'm only able to work a few hours a week. Normal daily living is difficult to impossible. Everything I do has been adapted. Walking on uneven ground is terrifying, as is winter.      I'm hoping to get insurance, and have a down payment for surgery. I don't qualify for Medicaid in South Dakota. Hopefully one day this changes. My current ortho says they require $20,000 down to do the surgery.  I am looking for other options.       Life isn't easy for anyone. This option is here for those that wish to help.
