Help Kara Fight Ewing's Sarcoma

Donation protected

This week has rocked our whole world. On Monday, after being sick with cold/flu symptoms for a few days, Kara’s fever was continually increasing. She was tired and would occasionally say that her left side hurt. I took her to KidsCare in Taylorsville and the doctor there said that it was probably just the flu but they would take an x-ray to check for pneumonia just in case. The x-rays showed a large posterior mediastinal mass in Kara’s chest.

We were told to go straight to Primary Children’s emergency room and that they would be expecting us. That night we got a CT scan and lots of lab tests and they admitted us to the hospital for additional tests. The next morning they did an MRI and made a plan for a surgical biopsy of what they were now calling a tumor.

On Wednesday, they did a biopsy of the tumor and put in a chest tube to help drain some of the free fluid around the tumor while we waited for the biopsy results.

On Friday, the doctors confirmed that the tumor is Ewing’s sarcoma. Kara has a long road to recovery ahead of her. She will be receiving in-patient chemotherapy treatments.

Since it is the end of the year, our insurance deductible and out of pocket maximum will be reached quickly, and start over again in January. We also expect Mom and Dad to miss work when Kara is receiving treatment. The funds raised from gofundme will help us pay medical bills and help us stay financially stable through missed/reduced work hours.

Thank you all for your love and support through this fight! Let's go kick cancers butt Supergirl!
