Help Kara Achieve Her Global Goals!

Karalyne Thompson has the opportunity to spend her 2025/26 school year in Costa Rica. She hopes not only to master Spanish, but to also make international friends, explore our cultural similarities and differences, and to understand Costa Rica's ambitious commitment to sustainable development. Let's help this Pure Michigan girl experience the La Pura Vida!

In order to arrive at this last step in achieving her goal of a year abroad, Kara has advanced through several rounds of the acceptance process, with recommendations from her teacher and school counselor, interviews, physicals, several essays in both English and Spanish, and lots of paperwork.

The total cost of the program is $14500, which covers flights, intensive language camp, placement with a host family, school, sports, and check ins with a local agency representative.

Kara is a dedicated student with a 3.67 GPA, and is active in her school community, participating in soccer, volleyball, equestrian team, track and field, power lifting, and Michigan Youth in Government. Kara enjoys learning Spanish and aspires to be truly fluent.

Kara is a responsible and compassionate girl who loves animals. She is her happiest self when outdoors. She loves the beach and snowboarding.

She is the daughter of Melanie Dean Dellatte, Gina Dellatte, and Scott Thompson. Kara's siblings are Leone and Olivia Thompson. Her grandparents are Bonnie (and the late Doug) Dean, Margie (and the late Tony) Dellatte, Lorraine (and the late Bill) Barksdale, and Steve and Kathy Thompson.
