Kappi, a 5-year-old Icelandic Sheepdog, recently underwent knee surgery to help with a condition he was born with. Only 2 weeks out of surgery, he slipped and fractured his leg. Kappi’s devoted owner, Barbara, rushed him to Washington State University Vet and was quoted $8-10k for surgery, which is not an amount she can pay by Tuesday, as she is retired and on a fixed income.
Kappi is an energetic and delightful dog. With a standard lifespan of 13-15 years, with some beloved companions living up to 19 years, Icelandic Sheepdogs are loyal, funny, and stalwart friends. Kappi has a lot of good life and friendship ahead of him with the expert intervention that WSU can provide, but if Barbara can’t cover the cost of his care, she will have to consider releasing him from pain.
Barbara has experienced an undue amount of heartache in the past several years and is dedicated to Kappi, even sleeping with him on the floor while he recovers from surgery.
Please consider supporting Barbara & Kappi during this difficult time.
