Aloha everyone my name is Leiawapuhi Lindsey and I am trying to raise money and support for my older brother Kapono Lindsey. From the time he was born he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, a congenital heart Heterotaxy Syndrome, a Congenital Pulmonary Artery Atresia, a Congenital Pulmonary Valve Atresia, and a Defect, Heart, Complex Congenital.
Currently Kapono Lindsey is in the hospital.August.2023 has been a tough one. August 23.2023Wednesday my mom and brother Flew to Oahu where heunder went surgery (Replacing his batteries for hisPaceMaker) which helps his heart pump. August 24.2023Kapono went into another operation (surgery). Kapono wastold this year HE has STAGE 4 Liver Cancer. August24.2023 Kapono was treated with chemo. August 25.2023Kapono was kept for observation. August 26-August27.2023 was/is rough. His wound (incision area) Reopeneddue to coughing. He went to the E.R then moved to thehospital, he is ok. As he can be. It hurts me seeing him likethis. His insides are bad. He using all his physical strengthto survive. Please Help Kapono from a burned of Debt's anbills! Anything helps; Kaponos while life has been sufferingwithout others around him even knowing. He always treatsothers with respect and kindness, Always Helping those inNEED, could care-less of himself. He was born with only 1/3 of his heart and has been going through so much to even be here today. He has been through 13 plus open heart surgeries and an about 30 pluse miner surgeries to help keep him going today, but
lately has been struggling through these pass few years. Our family is one that doesn’t like to ask for help but we need it.
Because he was born with a heart defect, the doctors believed he would not live past his 1st years, so our mom brought him to a different doctor for a second opinion. The hospital they went to for the second opinion was Raides children hospital in San Diego California.

Doctor John Lamberty, and Doctor James Perry, were the real doctor who gave our family hope.
From then on my parents help raised him like they would, with any of their other kid. He would be taught to think and do things like every other kid his age. Nerver allowed to think of him self as something special cause that would have only lead to him getting worse. Now he’s grown up and still here. He is 28yrs old, still pushing forward and still fighting to be where he is today.
Kapono has gone through so much his entire life, that I still don't understand how he keeps doing it. He's also trying to be there for others, even though he should think about him self first. He just doesn't know how to really quit, so no matter what he keeps working hard for everything.
Growing up our family didn’t have much and was considered poor to others because of were we live and how we lived. Growing up for my older brother was never easy. When he first started school, kids would make fun of him for not being able to read or write do to his age and grade placement. See he was already supposed to be in 5th grade do to his age, but was placed in 3rd.
All the years before that he was in the hospital getting surgeries done just to be here. So he never really ever got a chance to go to school until then and yet he kept doing what he needed to do the most with what little we had. For us growing up no matter what, we always supported and took care of our family and one another. Sure we did have much but because we had one another we were richer then most.
Watching Pono grow into the man he is right now has been an amazing gift because no matter what he went or will still go through he doesn’t give up and he doesn’t quit. He does his best to be there for others and is always helping anyone else but doesn’t like to ask for anything for himself. So I am trying to create this account to raise money and help support his medical needs and pay off past bills that have accumulated over time while he has been trying to stay positive and stay alive literally.
