Hello friends and family, my name is Kanin and I am a proud 28 year old trans man. My transition journey has been a long one and I have finally reached my major goal of getting top surgery, a gender reassignment surgery that will help me achieve a flat chest. This has been a YEARS LONG process with many ups and downs but I am finally here. I have suffered from severe body dysphoria around my chest for the majority of my life and this surgery would erase that for me. This is not only life saving, but it is also one step closer for me to have a body I can grow old in. A body I am comfortable to call home.

While I believe trans healthcare should be accessible and free, this isn’t the reality we currently live in. I am fortunate enough to have health insurance, but am still responsible to cover a portion of the surgery cost. I will also need to take off 6 weeks from work for healing, which adds another layer of financial stress. Asking for help is something I struggle with but I feel like in today’s political and economic climates, leaning on each other matters more than ever. This is why I have decided to go the crowdfunding route, to help cover my top surgery and recovery.
