Fight for Kane’s Battle Against Kidney Failure

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

This is Kane, I adopted him a year and a half ago from a shelter where his last owners surrendered him to because they could not take care of him and left him outside most of the time. As soon as I saw him, I knew I was going to take him home with me. Shortly after adopting him from the shelter, he had gotten very sick within 24 hours and after 72 hours he was rushed to the vet and I was forced to rehome him back to the shelter we adopted him from, so that his medical expenses would be covered. That same day I met two volunteers from that shelter, a husband and wife, they had come to pick up Kane and take him to a different hospital to be treated. I can never express my gratitude for them enough. They have been a part of Kane’s life since the day he was surrendered to the shelter and have been a huge support system for him and I during all of this, they are the reason Kane was able to get the help he needed so quickly and were the ones that fought for him on the inside. I am extremely grateful for them and others who have helped Kane get the love he has always deserved.

Every day after this I called, emailed, texted and drove to the shelter multiple times to check on him and make sure he would come back home to me and he did, but they found out that he had kidney disease and that when they had neutered him, the anesthesia had hurt his kidneys and that is why he had gotten so sick. They told me I could leave him with them to decide his future or I could re-adopt him. I decided to adopt him again because I knew he needed me to fight for him and believe in him like those volunteers did. And as much as he needed me, I needed him too.

In the last year, he has been able to be an actual dog that can play with toys and play with his best friend Sherman, who is a Boston terrier and enjoy his life. He has filled my heart with so much love and I am so thankful for him.

Unfortunately, his kidneys have continued to decline even with medicine, special diets, and holistic treatments. Kane needs an expensive treatment to stay alive, he needs a blood transfusion and his kidneys flushed, along with all of his other medicine and treatments. The vet told us without this he won’t be around much longer and I need help. I have continued to fight for Kane in every way possible when it comes to his health, his home with me, and any stereotypes when it came to his breed because he did not get a fair chance at life and I will do everything I can to give him one. I am asking for others to help fight for Kane now because he deserves to have the chance to live a longer, happier, and safe life.

Thank you for reading Kane’s story and I appreciate you all for fighting for him. #RaisingKane

Love,
Jossalin
