My name is Jennifer Yates, and I am starting this fundraiser for my dear friend Kandy and her family, who lost everything in a devastating house fire last month. In a matter of minutes, their entire home and everything inside it was gone. By the grace of God, they made it out alive—but they are now left with nothing.

Tragically, not everything survived. Their beloved dog, T-bone, who was truly part of the family, was unable to escape and perished in the fire. The loss of their home was heartbreaking, but losing him has added an even deeper layer of grief to an already unimaginable situation.

At the time of the fire, there was no home insurance coverage, as it had lapsed during Kandy’s recent hospital stay. Since then, friends and family came together to help them afford a short hotel stay, but those resources quickly ran out. Right now, they are living in a cramped camper trailer with no electricity because the power poles burned along with the house.

With summer approaching fast here in East Texas, the heat is already becoming unbearable—especially without power. What little stability they had has continued to unravel. Their only vehicle, a 1989 Ford pickup, recently broke down and is now in the shop with ongoing engine and transmission issues they simply cannot afford to fix. This has made it even harder for them to get to work, access resources, and begin rebuilding.

They have exhausted every available local resource and have reached a standstill.

Kandy is the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. Over the years, she has opened her home to countless people in need—offering them a safe place to stay when they had nowhere else to go. Now, she and her family are the ones in need of that same kindness and support.

All funds raised will go directly toward helping this family rebuild after the devastation of losing their home and everything in it. Donations will be used to cover immediate needs like safe and stable housing, clothing, food, and basic essentials, as well as replacing personal belongings and household necessities. These funds will also help them begin the long process of rebuilding their lives and restoring some sense of stability and normalcy.
