We are on a mission to make sure our community is sustainable, and good education is a really important part of that.
The Kandiwal Community self-fund the distance education of our kids. We do our schooling with Kimberley School of the Air over the internet. All of our school buildings and costs, and the two tutors we employ to help, are paid for by the community, with no funding from the WA State Government despite years of requests to help. So far we have educated 25 people on our own and with support of our neighbouring tourist camps, our schools, and people like you!
For our kids to be able to concentrate and do their very best at school, good food is important. We run a School Breakfast Program, sponsored by FoodBank, and the food is brought on a truck by the team at APT Wilderness Camp every Term.
We keep our food fresh and cold in a fridge that some visitors to Ngauwadu Outback Spirit bought, arranged by the team at Outback Spirit.
But by morning tea time, we need more brain food - and fresh fruit is the best. We’re asking for help to buy fresh fruit on a weekly basis. We’ll work with our friends at the APT and Outback Spirit tourist camps to get it here on their supply runs.
We have 10 kids at the school. This would be 10 pieces of fruit every day = 50 pieces per week!
This will cost about $750 every school term. We’re asking visitors if they can help support our kids education by chipping in to this GoFundMe page. If we raise extra funds, we’ll use it to buy art supplies to get creative!
Special thanks to APT Kimberley Wilderness Adventures and Outback Spirit Tours, who have been sponsoring the freight of our fruit over the 2023/24 dry season and 2024 wet season respectively.
