My Name is Daisy a Wildlife biologist here at Kanahau Wildlife and Conservation Organisation in Utila Honduras.
In January this year a part of our Swamper boat propellar shaft broke leaving us unable to use the boat. The boat is an extremely important part of our project, enabling us to monitor the Critically Endangered Utila Spiny-tailed Iguana (Ctenosaura bakeri) known fondly on the island as the Swamper. Most of the island is boat access only and we have been unable to reach many sites including the Turtle Harbor Wildlife Refuge of which Kanahau is a co-manager.
Not only is the boat used to carry out conservation work with the iguana, but as part of our outreach and education with the 7 schools on Utila, taking students on field trips, as well as used to host wildlife tours and students groups.
As an NGO we recieve no goverment funding and all our funds are donation and grant based, as it stands we do not currently have funds to fix the boat part so we have created this funraiser to help us get the boat going!
The money raised will pay for the boat part in full, shipping and and installation of the part.
Thank you for your help!!
