Hello Friends and Supporters,
My name is Kami, and I am a 10th-grade student at Hammond School in Columbia, SC. I am absolutely thrilled to share the incredible news that I have been selected for a study abroad opportunity in England in the Summer of 2026!
This selection has given me the true realization of a dream I’ve held since 8th grade. Often I have found myself wanting to learn and observe through a wider lens, searching for knowledge and understanding that I've yet to encounter. I am launching this fundraiser to secure the necessary funds and make this mission a reality.
I know you might be wondering: what will a 16-year-old gain from studying abroad? The answer is simple: an investment in my future. I have always believed that seeing the world is the most powerful way to learn. I will approach this experience with both an academic and vivacious perspective, recognizing that observing the world through a different cultural lens offers unparalleled educational value.
My goals are clear: to gain global perspective, cultural fluency, and independence—skills that are foundational for college and professional life. This experience will allow me to study history and culture on the ground, deepening my understanding in a way textbooks simply cannot. When I return, I look forward to sharing these fresh insights and stories with my peers at Hammond and applying this knowledge to my future academic and professional endeavors.
My total estimated cost for this program is $5,800. I have been actively saving and have already raised $1,800, leaving me with a fundraising goal of $4,000. These funds will directly cover essential expenses, including program tuition and fees, round-trip airfare, and incidentals.
Every contribution, no matter the size, puts me one step closer to boarding that plane and achieving this goal. Your support is not just a donation; it is an investment in my education and future global citizenship.
Thank you so much for believing in me and helping to turn this long-held dream into a life-changing adventure.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kami
